Complete ban on temporary swings imposed across Punjab on Eid al-Adha

Lahore: In a proactive move to safeguard citizens during the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations, the Punjab Home Department has imposed a ban on all temporary mechanical rides set up across the province.
According to an official notification, only permanently installed rides located in registered amusement parks will be permitted to operate, and that too only if they hold valid fitness certificates.
The directive further states that all owners and operators of such mechanical rides must obtain a clearance certificate from their respective deputy commissioners, verifying that their equipment complies with prescribed safety and operational standards.
The ban arises from concerns over the safety of makeshift rides, often set up in open areas or urban neighbourhoods during festive seasons. Authorities indicated that these temporary setups frequently lack maintenance and inspections, leading to overloading risks that jeopardise public safety, especially for children.
