The Islamabad High Court has directed prison authorities to arrange a meeting between Imran Khan and his counsel Salman Safdar on Tuesday at 2pm.

The order was issued during the hearing of appeals seeking suspension of sentences in the £190 million case involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. The bench, headed by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif, approved a miscellaneous application filed by the defence counsel requesting permission to meet his client.

During the proceedings, Barrister Salman Safdar began presenting arguments when the court inquired about his request. He informed the bench that he needed to consult with Imran Khan regarding the case. The court subsequently allowed the request and instructed jail authorities to facilitate the meeting at the specified time.

Representing the prosecution, Javed Ashraf appeared alongside Rafi Maqsood, while the defence was led by Salman Safdar.

The court also addressed a request by the prosecution to schedule the hearing for next week. However, Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar remarked that the court determines hearing dates based on its own schedule and availability. He added that once arguments begin, the court would aim to decide the appeal within seven days.

The bench adjourned further hearing of the case until Thursday.

The development comes as legal proceedings continue in the high-profile case, with both sides preparing detailed arguments regarding the suspension of sentences. The meeting between Imran Khan and his lawyer is expected to play a key role in finalising the defence strategy ahead of the next hearing.
