Court Sets Date to Frame Charges in TikToker Sana Yousuf’s Murder Case

ISLAMABAD: The legal proceedings in the tragic murder case of TikTok star Sana Yousuf took a significant step forward as an Islamabad sessions court scheduled September 20, 2025, for the formal framing of charges against the accused, Umar Hayat.
The hearing took place on Saturday before Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, who reviewed the case. During the proceedings, Umar Hayat, the suspect in the case, was presented before the court. Copies of the challan, or formal charge sheet, were provided to him as part of the legal process.
Details of the Incident
Sana Yousuf, a popular social media personality, was tragically shot dead on June 3, 2025, in Islamabad. Umar Hayat, a 22-year-old man, has been accused of carrying out the fatal shooting. Reports suggest that Hayat had been persistently pursuing Sana for a “friendship,” but she had repeatedly turned down his advances. This rejection allegedly led to his violent outburst.
Eyewitnesses have recounted the events leading up to the shooting. During their last interaction, Sana reportedly attempted to calm Hayat, telling him, “You’re getting agitated, leave this place. There are CCTV cameras, please depart,” just before gunshots were heard. Sana was struck by two bullets and died instantly at the scene. The suspect fled the area after the incident.
Sana’s body was taken to PIMS Hospital, where a post-mortem was conducted, and after completing the necessary legal formalities, her family was given the body for burial. The police have registered the case under murder charges at Sumbal Police Station.
The investigation continues as the case moves toward the next phase, with Umar Hayat set to face charges on September 20. The case has attracted significant media attention, highlighting issues related to stalking, harassment, and the safety of women on social media platforms.
