CPEC to Create 1,000 Jobs in Pakistan as Government Focuses on Tech Skills

Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), 1,000 new jobs will be created in Pakistan over the coming years. These roles will require skilled workers who can meet the demands of a modern, tech-driven economy. According to the APP, the initiative is part of the next phase of CPEC focused on industrial growth and business-to-business collaboration.
To prepare for this shift, Pakistan is adopting China’s vocational training model through its “Uraan Pakistan” program. This program aims to equip youth with skills for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The focus is on building capabilities in AI, robotics, big data, and green technologies to keep pace with the global job market.
The initiative is a joint effort by both public and private sectors. It aims to turn Pakistan’s large youth population into an economic advantage. Nearly two-thirds of Pakistan’s population is under 30, making it one of the youngest workforces globally. However, the nature of jobs is changing fast, creating an urgent need for skill development.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal stressed the importance of innovation and adaptability at a recent MoU signing in Beijing. He said countries that fail to prepare will lose future opportunities. But with the right strategy, Pakistan can unlock a new era of industrial growth and prosperity.
The “Uraan Pakistan” program is also a major part of the government’s “5Es Framework” for economic transformation. It focuses on skills, export development, environment, energy, and equity. By aligning workforce training with market needs, the government aims to ensure sustainable economic progress.
Already, NAVTTC has trained 1.5 million young people, with 70% securing jobs. This has resulted in a 30% increase in average income for these individuals. With such progress, CPEC’s new job creation and training initiatives offer real hope for economic upliftment.
