Hyderabad: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a terror attempt on a railway track and arrested three suspects in Qasimabad.

Officials said the arrested men belonged to the banned Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA). The suspects were identified as Aamir Latif Chang, Shoaib Chang, and Shaban Chang.

CTD recovered two hand grenades, explosives, detonators, ball bearings, nuts, bolts, remote controls, wires, and other illegal weapons from their possession. These items were meant for sabotage.

Authorities confirmed that Aamir Latif Chang was the main suspect in a past railway bombing. He carried a bounty of two million rupees. The militants had also been involved in firing at cargo trailers travelling toward Punjab.

Investigators revealed the group planned the railway attack under the direction of Noor Chandio. However, the August 14 plan failed due to strict security. The SRA network was reportedly being run by Chandio.

CTD said special teams have been formed to track down more suspects. Further investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are expected soon.
