Cyberattack Hits European Airports, Disrupts Flights and Causes Chaos

A cyberattack on a key service provider has caused major disruption at several European airports. The attack hit systems used for check-in and boarding. As a result, travelers faced long delays and cancellations on Saturday. Airports in London, Brussels, and Berlin were the most affected. These airports urged passengers to check with airlines before arriving.

The problem stems from a technical issue at Collins Aerospace. This company supplies critical airport systems across Europe. London’s Heathrow Airport confirmed delays due to the issue. Brussels Airport stated that only manual check-in is now possible. This shift to manual operations has slowed things down significantly.

Berlin Airport also acknowledged the disruption on its website. It posted a banner warning of longer check-in times. The airport assured travelers they are working on a quick solution. Still, travelers experienced uncertainty and long waits. Many faced possible flight cancellations throughout the day.

Meanwhile, some airports confirmed they were not affected. Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s busiest, said operations remained normal. Zurich Airport also reported no disruptions to its systems. These airports continue to function as usual. Their operations were not connected to the compromised systems.

Collins Aerospace’s parent company, RTX, has not yet commented. The service provider is still working to fix the issue. Until then, delays and cancellations may continue. Affected passengers are advised to stay updated. Travelers should contact their airlines before heading to the airport.
