Deadly Earthquake in Türkiye
A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 struck near Istanbul, Türkiye, causing panic and damage. The quake hit Balikesir province, close to the town of Sındırgı. Several buildings collapsed, and others suffered deep cracks in their walls.

People rushed out of their homes in fear as the tremors shook cities, including Istanbul and Izmir. The quake’s epicenter was in Sındırgı, where the destruction was most severe.

According to Turkish media, around ten buildings collapsed in Sındırgı alone. A three-story building fell in the city center, and debris filled the streets. In the nearby village of Golcuk, many houses also collapsed, leaving families displaced.

The earthquake’s force was felt over a wide area, sending shockwaves through the region. Authorities confirmed that aftershocks between 3.0 and 4.6 in magnitude followed soon after.

The sudden shaking forced residents to abandon their homes and gather in open spaces. Some carried blankets and basic supplies, fearing more tremors. Streets filled quickly as neighbors checked on each other and shared information. Many people stayed outside for hours to avoid the risk of being trapped inside damaged structures. Emergency warnings urged citizens to remain alert and avoid unstable buildings.

Health Minister of Türkiye confirmed that four people were injured during the collapse of buildings. They were quickly taken to the hospital for treatment. Rescue teams worked tirelessly, searching the rubble for anyone trapped. Heavy machinery and trained dogs joined the mission to locate survivors. Authorities expressed hope that there would be no loss of life.

Meanwhile, rescue and emergency services remain on high alert. Volunteers and local organizations are providing food, water, and shelter to affected families. Engineers are inspecting damaged buildings to assess safety risks. Authorities are also monitoring aftershock activity to prevent further danger. The government promised continued support until all affected areas recover.
