Deadly road accident in Karak claims 12 lives, 25 injured

KARAK: At least 12 people were killed and 25 others injured in a devastating road accident on Saturday at Ambeeri Chowk, Karak. The tragic incident occurred when a trailer truck’s brakes failed, causing it to collide with a passenger coach and several other vehicles on the Indus Highway.

 

Karak Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Jan Marwat confirmed the details of the incident, which left many casualties and a community in shock. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured and recover the victims.

In response to the accident, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi took immediate notice and sought a detailed report on the incident. He instructed health department personnel to provide all necessary assistance to the injured and directed Hilal-e-Ahmar teams to carry out relief activities at the site.

Governor Kundi also called upon Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers to actively participate in the relief efforts, including blood donations to aid the victims.

PPP Senator Sherry Rehman expressed her deep sorrow over the loss of lives and urged local government officials and the district administration to ensure the provision of the best possible relief and medical care to those affected by the tragedy.

In a related incident on Friday, two people were killed and one injured after a heavy water tanker ran over their motorbikes on Shaheed-e-Millat Road in Karachi. Police reported that the accident occurred when a car collided with the motorcyclists, and the tanker, coming from behind, crashed into the bikes.
