LAHORE: Dengue fever cases continue to rise in Lahore, with 56 new instances reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Punjab Department of Health Care. This brings the total number of dengue cases in Lahore to 7,451 for the year.

In addition to Lahore, nearby areas have also seen a rise in cases, with 47 new dengue cases reported in Rawalpindi and smaller numbers of cases noted in Chakwal, Attock, and Multan.

Health officials have reassured the public that hospitals are well-equipped to handle the increased patient load, with sufficient supplies of necessary medications. They also emphasized the importance of preventive measures to control the spread of the disease, urging residents to keep their surroundings clean and eliminate stagnant water where mosquitoes can breed.

A spokesperson for the Health Department has called for public cooperation, particularly with teams working in high-risk areas. To assist with dengue-related concerns, the department has set up a helpline at 1033 for enquiries and reports.

The Health Department is stressing the importance of heightened awareness and strict adherence to preventive practices to control the spread of dengue in the province.
