New York, July 21, 2025— Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has arrived in the United States to lead major high-level sessions under Pakistan’s Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), marking a significant moment in the country’s diplomatic engagement on the global stage.

During his stay in New York, Dar will preside over a series of pivotal meetings and open debates focusing on international peace, regional stability, and enhanced multilateral cooperation.

Promoting Peace Through Dialogue

One of the flagship events of this visit is a high-level open debate chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister on the theme “Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and Peaceful Settlement of Disputes.” The debate will bring together global leaders, diplomats, and representatives of member states to exchange views on strengthening diplomacy and mediation as tools for conflict resolution.

This initiative aligns with Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter.

Middle East and Palestine: A Focus on Justice

Senator Dar will also lead the Quarterly Open Debate on the “Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question.” This debate comes amid heightened global concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the broader Palestinian issue.

Pakistan has consistently advocated for the two-state solution and has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people. To further emphasise this commitment, the Deputy Prime Minister will participate in a High-Level Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question, focusing on diplomatic pathways to achieving lasting peace in the region.

Strengthening Global Muslim Unity Through OIC–UN Cooperation

In another key engagement, Dar will chair a UNSC briefing on enhancing cooperation between the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). This initiative is part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to foster unity and collective efforts among OIC member states while deepening institutional collaboration with the UN to address international security challenges.

Bilateral Engagements with Global Leaders

In addition to his engagements at the UN, the Deputy Prime Minister is expected to meet several foreign ministers, ambassadors, and top UN officials during his visit. These meetings are aimed at reinforcing Pakistan’s diplomatic ties and exploring avenues for cooperation in trade, regional stability, and international development.

Dar will later travel to Washington, D.C., for further consultations and high-level meetings with key officials of the U.S. government and international institutions.
