Islamabad: Torrential monsoon rains have wreaked havoc across Pakistan, leaving a trail of destruction and loss. According to the latest report from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 221 people have lost their lives, and more than 804 houses have been destroyed nationwide.

Punjab has emerged as the most severely affected region, where 135 people lost their lives and 470 others were injured due to rain-related incidents. The report states that 24 houses were destroyed, while 168 suffered partial damage.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 40 fatalities and 69 injuries have been reported. The province saw 78 homes completely collapse and 142 more partially damaged due to landslides and flash floods.

In Sindh, 22 people were killed and 40 injured, with 33 houses destroyed and 54 partially damaged.
Balochistan also witnessed 16 deaths and 4 injuries, with 8 homes fully destroyed and 56 homes partially affected.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, 3 people were injured, while 66 homes were destroyed and 71 suffered partial damage.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir saw 1 death, 6 injuries, 17 homes fully destroyed, and 75 partially damaged.

Even the capital, Islamabad, reported 1 death, with 35 houses partially damaged and 1 house completely collapsed.

NDMA reported that in the past 24 hours alone, 5 more lives were lost, including 3 children. An additional 25 houses were destroyed, and 5 livestock animals perished.
