Double-Decker Buses Return to Karachi After Nearly Five Decades

After nearly fifty years, double-decker buses are set to return to the streets of Karachi, offering citizens a modern and comfortable public transport option.
Double-decker buses were once a familiar sight in Karachi, but the service was discontinued decades ago. Now, with modern upgrades, the iconic buses are making a comeback starting tomorrow.
Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced during a press conference that the double-decker bus service will officially begin on Wednesday for the residents of Karachi.
He stated that the service will initially be launched on a trial basis from Malir to Shahrah-e-Faisal, with plans to expand the fleet and routes in the coming months.

He further said that transport projects will be introduced across Sindh, including the launch of People’s Bus Service in Khairpur, Shikarpur, and Tando Allahyar, while the number of buses in Hyderabad will be increased. He also noted that the Sindh government will approach the Prime Minister regarding the promised 150 buses for Karachi.
