E-Bike Scheme 2025 Launch Expected on August 14

ISLAMABAD— In a major move to tackle climate change and promote sustainable transportation, the federal government has launched the E-Bike Scheme 2025, aimed at introducing electric bikes nationwide.

The formal inauguration of the scheme is expected to be made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on August 14, during the Independence Day celebrations.

According to official sources, the government has earmarked Rs9 billion in the current fiscal budget to support this initiative. A subsidy of Rs 65,000 will be provided on each electric bike to make it affordable for the general public.

The scheme is a key part of the government’s efforts to reduce reliance on fuel-based vehicles and move towards an environmentally friendly transport system, helping to cut emissions and reduce urban air pollution.

Officials say that the initiative will not only support climate action but also provide a cost-effective transportation option for students, workers, and daily commuters.
