Elderly woman dies of hunger in Bahawalpur, sister hospitalised

Bahawalpur: In a tragic incident highlighting the harsh realities of poverty, an elderly woman died of hunger in Bahawalpur’s Lohar Wali Gali, while her sister remains in critical condition at the hospital.

According to rescue officials, neighbours reported on Saturday that two elderly sisters were found unconscious inside their home. When rescue teams arrived, one was already dead, and the other was rushed to the hospital.

Local residents stated that the two women were unmarried, unemployed, and had been living alone without any source of income. They reportedly had a brother, but he has been missing for several years.

The deceased woman has since been laid to rest, while her elder sister is still under medical care.
