Explosion at Supreme Court Cafeteria Injures Four

ISLAMABAD: Four people were injured in an explosion at the Supreme Court cafeteria on Tuesday. The blast occurred in the central air-conditioning (AC) plant during maintenance work. Police, security staff, and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene. The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where officials confirmed their stable condition.
The explosion was powerful enough to shake the entire Supreme Court building, causing panic among lawyers, staff, and visitors. People rushed outside for safety as the blast’s impact reverberated through the building. Authorities said the explosion seemed accidental and was likely caused by a technical fault in the AC system.
Police and rescue teams cleared the area, and an investigation into the cause of the blast is currently underway. While the explosion caused a scare, the swift response from security and rescue teams ensured the situation was handled promptly. The authorities are working to determine if the incident was entirely accidental or due to negligence.
In a separate development, the Supreme Court launched a new Public Facilitation Portal on its website. This initiative aims to improve public access, transparency, and efficiency in the judicial process. The portal provides a range of tools that allow citizens to easily search for case details and track legal procedures without needing to visit court offices.
The new system also features a helpline (1818) for real-time assistance and a detailed FAQ section to explain legal processes. This move is expected to simplify access to justice for those who may not have legal representation. The launch of the portal demonstrates the court’s commitment to making legal services more accessible to the public.
