ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has allegedly threatened to kill Senator Faisal Vawda after he criticized the board’s proposal to buy more than 1,000 cars.

The startling allegations were made by Vawda on Thursday before a Senate Standing Committee on Finance meeting.

The politician claimed that after the committee’s meeting on January 22, death threats were made by FBR officials, including Ali Salih, Shahid, and Dr. Sajjad Siddiqui.

According to Faisal Vawda, his company was raided by FBR officials after he offered to give them 1,010 inexpensive cars.

Senator Vawda claims that the FBR authorities intimidated the workers of the international corporation and threatened to shut down his enterprise.

Faisal Vawda bemoaned the purported raid and the threats that followed, claiming that the action gave the Japanese investors the wrong impression.

Senator Vawda, meantime, decided to present proof of the purported corruption of about 54 FBR personnel.

The senator disclosed that he had proof of the FBR vehicles being misused.

Two days after criticizing the FBR’s decision to purchase about 1,010 cars for its leaders, he made his new allegations.

Speaking on the Senate floor on January 28, Faisal Vawda claimed that despite not meeting the Rs384 billion income target, the FBR was still receiving cars.

“FBR’s targets may have fallen short, which is why they were rewarded with new cars,” he stated.

During his address, Vawda proposed that employees and the government share a 5 percent financial contribution for car leasing.

He went on to say that the current plans are opaque and will put an unnecessary strain on the exchequer.
