Exporters minimum tax rules Pakistan

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said a letter circulating on social media is misleading. It created the false impression that exporters’ income tax returns would face unjust scrutiny. The FBR emphasized that this claim is incorrect and not based on facts.

The board explained that the Finance Act, 2024, changed the exporters’ tax regime. Previously, exporters were under a final tax regime, but now they fall under minimum tax rules. This change must be reflected in Income Tax Returns for the Tax Year 2025.

To avoid errors, FBR field offices were instructed to carefully review and process returns. The review ensures all filings comply with the law and any inconsistencies are corrected. Desk audits are part of the board’s statutory responsibility to enforce tax compliance.

The FBR clarified that these checks aim to prevent misuse, errors, and taxpayer inconvenience. All procedures are carried out under supervision from FBR Headquarters to ensure consistency. The exercise follows lawful, transparent, and professional standards.

Finally, the FBR reaffirmed its commitment to fair tax administration. It said facilitation of taxpayers and proper implementation of tax laws remain top priorities. The board urged exporters to submit accurate returns without fear of unjust penalties.
