FBR Upgrades Cybersecurity to Protect Sensitive Data

ISLAMABAD – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has upgraded its cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive taxpayer data amid rising cyber threats.
Officials submitted a detailed report to the Standing Committee, highlighting the new controls and ongoing improvements across FBR systems.
Modern security measures are now fully functional across FBR and Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PARAL) infrastructure. The Paral Head Office data center also received state-of-the-art protection.
Similar security enhancements are being implemented at FBR House and the Karachi data center, ensuring comprehensive coverage of critical systems and applications.

The FBR has introduced geo-fencing controls to block internet traffic from hostile countries. Only authorized applications are allowed, while anonymous traffic is restricted.
These measures aim to prevent unauthorized access and network misuse. They strengthen the integrity of FBR’s digital systems and sensitive data.
A high-alert Security Operations Center (SOC) now monitors FBR’s network in real time. The system can take immediate action against any suspicious activity.
