Federal government increases petroleum prices for next fortnight

The federal government has announced an increase in petroleum prices for the next fortnight, effective from midnight tonight. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs3.47 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs256.13 per litre.
Additionally, the price of high-speed diesel has also been increased by Rs2.61 per litre, making the new price Rs260.95 per litre.
The hike in petroleum prices comes as a result of rising international oil prices, which have been influenced by ongoing US sanctions on oil exports to China and India. These developments have contributed to an increase in global oil prices, which in turn has impacted the local prices of petroleum products.
Earlier this month, the government had raised the price of petrol by Rs0.56 per litre for the first fortnight of 2025, just before the New Year.
