FESCO Launches “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” to Empower Electricity Consumers

FAISALABAD— In line with the Prime Minister’s vision of a “Digital Pakistan,” Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has launched a groundbreaking initiative titled “Apna Meter, Apni Reading,” aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and customer empowerment in the power sector.
According to a FESCO spokesperson, this innovative program allows electricity consumers to submit their own meter readings using the Power Smart App, helping to eliminate overbilling and reduce human error in meter reading.
The app is available for download on both the Google Play Store for Android users and the App Store for iOS users. After registering with their consumer ID and other relevant details, users can access the “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” feature, take a clear photo of their electricity meter on the designated reading date, and upload it directly through the app.
FESCO has assured that the meter reading image submitted by the consumer will be prioritized over the reading taken by the company in the same billing cycle. The submitted reading will be considered final, and the monthly electricity bill will be generated accordingly. Bills based on consumer-submitted readings will also display the label “Apna Meter Apni Reading” alongside the uploaded photo for verification.
The initiative is expected to significantly reduce complaints related to overbilling, incorrect readings, and billing delays. It is particularly beneficial for protected category consumers, as submitting readings on the due date helps ensure they remain within the protected status.
FESCO is also emphasizing consumer safety, urging users to maintain a safe distance from meters and power lines when taking photos and to strictly follow safety precautions during the process.
