In a major step towards improving rescue and relief operations in Pakistan, the Punjab government has introduced an advanced airlift drone to assist flood victims. This modern drone is capable of carrying up to 200 kilograms, allowing it to transport stranded individuals to safer areas during emergencies.

The drone was recently tested in Lahore by the Civil Defence team and has now been sent to South Punjab, specifically Multan, on the orders of the Punjab Home Secretary. The drone will be used to rescue people trapped in flood-hit regions. Officials have also confirmed plans to purchase 10 more airlift drones for future operations, making this the first emergency airlift drone service of its kind in Pakistan.

According to the Punjab Home Secretary, this initiative is part of strengthening the “Punjab Civil Defence Resilience Corps” with modern tools and technology. He added that the drone service will help reach difficult and dangerous locations quickly and safely. Trained Civil Defence officers and volunteers continue to play a frontline role in saving lives, and citizens are being encouraged to join the Resilience Corps as volunteers.
