Former Pakistani cricketer Nazir Junior passes away after illness

Lahore: Renowned former Pakistani cricketer Nazir Junior passed away after battling a severe illness for the past week. He was under treatment at a local hospital in Lahore.

Nazir Junior, an accomplished cricketer, represented Pakistan in 14 Test matches and 4 One Day Internationals, taking a total of 37 wickets during his career. He etched his name in cricket history by becoming the first Pakistani spinner to claim seven wickets in an innings on his Test debut—a record that still stands.

In addition to his playing career, Nazir Junior also served as an umpire, officiating in 15 ODIs and 5 Test matches, continuing his dedication to the sport.
