Gang caught supplying dead chickens to fast food

Bahawalnagar: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized a large quantity of dead chickens intended for fast food outlets during a raid in Bahawalnagar. Two suspects were arrested, and the spoilt meat was immediately destroyed on-site.

According to details, the raid was conducted near the Railway Roundabout on Arifwala Road, where hundreds of dead chickens were recovered. In a separate operation, PFA Director General Asim Javed led a raid on Lahore’s Tollinton Market alongside the Meat Safety Task Force. The team confiscated and disposed of 1,800 kilograms of diseased poultry.

According to the DG, inspections were carried out at 26 suppliers and shops, where over 74,000 kilograms of chicken were checked. Several vendors were fined, and all substandard meat was destroyed. Authorities revealed that the diseased poultry was being distributed to various local shops and fast food vendors.
