Good News for Consumers: NEPRA Approves Reduction in Electricity Base Tariff for 100 to 500 Units

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction in the base electricity tariff for domestic consumers using between 100 and 500 units per month, offering much-needed relief amid rising energy costs.
According to details, NEPRA has approved a decrease of up to Rs 1.15 per unit in the base electricity price. The decision has been sent to the federal government for notification. Once notified, the new tariffs will be implemented nationwide.
Under the revised structure, the maximum tariff for domestic users will be Rs. 47.69 per unit, while lifeline users consuming up to 50 units per month will continue to be charged the previous rate of Rs. 3.95 per unit.
Updated Tariff Structure for Domestic Consumers:
- 51 to 100 units (Lifeline Consumers): Rs. 7.74 per unit
- 1 to 100 units (Protected Consumers): Rs. 10.54 per unit
- 101 to 200 units (Protected Consumers): Rs. 13.01 per unit
- 1 to 100 units (Non-Protected Consumers): Rs. 22.44 per unit
- 101 to 200 units (Non-Protected Consumers): Rs. 28.91 per unit
- 201 to 300 units: Rs. 33.10 per unit
- 301 to 400 units: Rs. 37.99 per unit
- 401 to 500 units: Rs. 40.20 per unit
- 501 to 600 units: Rs. 41.62 per unit
- 601 to 700 units: Rs. 42.76 per unit
- Above 700 units: Rs 47.69 per unit
