Good news for Karachi: Electricity prices likely to drop

Karachi – K-Electric (KE) has submitted an application to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) requesting a reduction of Rs4.95 per unit in electricity tariff under fuel cost adjustment.

If approved, electricity consumers in Karachi will receive a total relief of Rs4.94 billion. NEPRA has scheduled a hearing on KE’s request for February 26 to review the proposed adjustment.

Earlier this month, the government had reduced electricity rates by up to Rs 1.23 per unit as part of the monthly fuel price adjustment. Consumers of distribution companies were given a Rs1.22 per unit reduction, while K-Electric users benefitted from a Rs1.23 per unit cut.
