Haris Rauf Faces ICC Fine for Celebration

Haris Rauf Faces 50% Fine After ICC Hearing Over Celebration Gestures
Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf may face a 50 percent fine following an ICC hearing. The hearing also involved opener Sahibzada Farhan. Both players appeared before the International Cricket Council after a complaint from the Indian team management. The hearing took place at a hotel, where officials reviewed the matter carefully. Sources say Rauf could be fined, while Farhan might avoid any financial penalty.
During the hearing, both players denied any wrongdoing related to their on-field gestures. Sahibzada Farhan explained that his gun celebration shows joy and is common in cricket. He cited famous players like M.S. Dhoni and Viv Richards as examples. Farhan added that the gesture is part of his cultural tradition as a Pathan. He emphasized that celebrations are expressions of happiness, not disrespect.
Haris Rauf also defended his actions during the proceedings. He explained that his “6-0” hand signs refer to cricket terms: six runs and a duck. Rauf asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India to clarify how his gestures were offensive. He insisted that the complaint lacked clear evidence and should be dismissed. Both players stressed that their conduct was not meant to offend anyone.
Meanwhile, Indian player Suryakumar Yadav might receive a 15 percent fine related to the same case. However, no fines are expected for Sahibzada Farhan. The ICC hearing reviewed all evidence and statements from both sides. The council aims to maintain respect and sportsmanship during international matches. Officials continue to evaluate disciplinary actions carefully.
This case highlights ongoing tensions between cricket teams from Pakistan and India. It also stresses the importance of understanding cultural differences in sports celebrations. Players and officials urge clear communication to avoid misunderstandings. The ICC continues to promote fair play and respect among all teams. Both players remain hopeful for a fair resolution soon.
