Heavy Rain and Hailstorm Expected in Punjab and KP on April 18–19

The National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has issued a weather alert for various regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, windstorms, and isolated hailstorms from the evening of April 18th through April 19th.
The areas likely to be affected include Malakand Division, Hazara Division, Bannu, Charsadda, Karak, Khyber, Kohat, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Mardan, Nowshera, Orakzai, Peshawar, Swabi, and Waziristan.
The NDMA highlighted that the severe weather could disrupt infrastructure, transportation, and agriculture. There is also a risk of landslides or avalanches in mountainous regions, particularly in the Hazara and Malakand Divisions. Flash floods may occur in low-lying areas due to heavy downpours.
Key highways in the affected regions might face road blockages because of landslides or snow accumulation. The NDMA has advised citizens to check road and weather conditions before travelling, especially in hilly and mountainous areas.
Tourists are urged to stay informed through updated weather forecasts and avoid unnecessary travel during intense weather. The public is also encouraged to follow instructions from local authorities and stay alert in areas prone to natural hazards.
