City Receives Record Rainfall, Highest in Lakshmi Chowk

Lahore — The weather in Lahore turned cool and pleasant after the city received a record 136 millimetres of rainfall in just eight hours, according to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA).

The heaviest rainfall was recorded at Lakshmi Chowk, which received 178 mm, followed by Nishtar Town with 177 mm, and Pani Wala Talab at 167 mm.

WASA’s detailed data from across Lahore shows varying rainfall across different neighborhoods:

• Upper Mall: 121 mm

• Mughalpura: 127 mm

• Tajpura: 117 mm

• Chowk Nakhauda: 131 mm

• Farukhabad: 132 mm

• Gulshan Ravi: 128 mm

• Iqbal Town: 162 mm

• Samanabad: 149 mm

• Johar Town: 133 mm

• Qurtaba Chowk: 139 mm

• Jail Road: 119 mm

• Airport Area: 60 mm

The widespread showers not only brought relief from the intense summer heat but also triggered urban flooding in low-lying areas, raising concerns for city management and residents.
