Karachi, August 19, 2025: Heavy rain hit Karachi on Tuesday, turning many roads into pools of water. The showers started lightly last night but quickly intensified in the morning. The downpour flooded low-lying areas and disrupted daily life.

Major roads including Tower, Guru Mandir, and Saddar Mobile Market were covered with water. Traffic moved slowly as commuters struggled. Many residents faced difficulty reaching offices and markets due to the flooded streets.

The areas hit hardest included Tariq Road, Azizabad, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Boat Basin, Liaquatabad, Hasan Square, North Nazimabad, SITE Area, Clifton, and Defence. Rainwater also collected around Qayyumabad, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Airport, Quaidabad, Malir, Landhi, and Korangi.

More neighborhoods such as Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Federal B Area, Scheme 33, Safora, Malir Cantt, North Karachi, Manghopir, Surjani Town, and Taiser Town also saw heavy showers. In North Nazimabad, thunder and lightning made the rainfall even more intense.

According to the Meteorological Department, strong rains are expected in the country’s northern areas as well. Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, and Galiyat could see more downpours in the next 24 hours.

The forecast also warns of flooding in Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Lahore, Attock, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Nowshera, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, and Thatta. Authorities have advised residents in low-lying areas to remain cautious and prepared.
