Historic 8-hour rainfall sets new record in Lahore

Lahore: A record-breaking 136 mm of rainfall was recorded in Lahore during an intense 8-hour spell, submerging low-lying areas and disrupting daily life. Nishtar Town received the highest rainfall at 178 mm, followed by Iqbal Town and Pani Wala Talab with 175 mm.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif personally monitored the situation and ordered immediate drainage operations in the worst-hit areas. WASA teams and officials remain active on the field despite repeated power outages.

The Chief Minister also directed traffic wardens and officers to stay on the roads to ensure smooth traffic flow during the downpour.

According to Rescue 1122, 4 people died and 40 were injured across Punjab due to rain and strong winds in the past 24 hours. The severely injured have been given emergency medical assistance.
