Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, has said that Iman Mazari is like a daughter to him, and as an elder and the Chief Justice, he was only trying to advise her. He added that his words were taken out of context, which caused unnecessary controversy.

While hearing a case, the Chief Justice addressed the verbal exchange with Advocate Iman Mazari that took place in court the day before. He said, “Iman Mazari is like one of my daughters. I was only explaining things to her yesterday.”

He clarified, “I told her that she can disagree with my decisions, but she should not make it personal. I never said I would have her arrested. This has been falsely spread since yesterday.

Hadi Sahib was present, and I had said to detain him or I would initiate contempt of court proceedings. If that happened, the girl’s career would have been affected.”

The Chief Justice added, “I explained things to her like one would to a child, but she was not understanding. She kept repeating, ‘What about fundamental rights?’ But doesn’t this court also have fundamental rights?”
