India Withdraws from Asia Cup Amid Tensions with Pakistan
In a significant development ahead of the 2025 Asia Cup, India has reportedly decided to pull out of the tournament due to ongoing tensions with Pakistan. According to Indian media outlets, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has opted out of both the Men’s Asia Cup and the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup.

The Men’s Asia Cup was scheduled to take place in September this year, while the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup was set for June in Sri Lanka. However, escalating diplomatic strains appear to have spilt over into the cricketing arena.

Reports suggest that India’s decision is tied to the current leadership of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which is headed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. A BCCI official was quoted as saying that the Indian team will not participate in a tournament overseen by a Pakistani minister.

This move raises uncertainty about the future of the Asia Cup this year, with many speculating that the tournament could be postponed or even cancelled if India sticks to its decision.
