Inflation drops to its lowest in 9.5 years in Pakistan

Inflation in Pakistan has dropped to its lowest level in nine and a half years, with the annual inflation rate recorded at 2.4% in January 2025.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, inflation in urban areas stood at 2.7%, while in rural areas, it was recorded at 1.9%. In January, several items saw a decline in prices, including eggs and onions, which dropped by 14% each, and moong dal, which decreased by 2.63%.
Other items like besan, chickpea dal, white chickpeas, wheat products, beverages, and wheat also became cheaper. Prices of dry fruits, masoor dal, postal services, electricity, and construction materials also fell.
However, chicken became 35.36% more expensive, and moong dal rose by 5.43%. Medical tests, fuel, dental services, and ready-made garments also became costlier.
