Ishaq Dar, EU’s Kaja Kallas Discuss South Asia Tensions, Indus Waters Treaty Concerns

ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President, Kaja Kallas, to discuss recent developments in South Asia.

During the call, Ishaq Dar strongly rejected India’s “baseless accusations” and criticised what he termed “inflammatory propaganda”. He expressed serious concern over India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a direct violation of international law and treaty commitments.

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance on maintaining peace and stability in the region and renewed the country’s offer for an independent and transparent investigation into the recent Pahalgam attack.

Kaja Kallas stressed the need for restraint from all sides and highlighted the importance of dialogue in resolving regional tensions. Both leaders also reviewed Pakistan-EU bilateral relations and agreed on the need to enhance cooperation.
