Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon kill 13 people

At least 13 people were killed in a series of Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, despite an ongoing ceasefire arrangement that has been repeatedly extended.
The ministry said the latest wave of attacks struck multiple locations across southern Lebanon, including the city of Nabatieh, the area near Jibshit, and Bint Jbeil. The victims included civilians, a soldier, a child, and rescue workers, highlighting the widening human toll of continued cross-border violence.
In Nabatieh, an Israeli strike killed five people, among them two members of the civil defence rescue teams who were reportedly responding to emergency situations in the area. The attack caused significant damage and raised concerns about the safety of emergency responders operating in conflict zones.

In a separate incident near Jibshit, four more individuals were killed, including a Lebanese soldier and a Syrian national. Local authorities said the strike targeted a populated area, resulting in multiple casualties and heightened fear among residents.
A third strike in Bint Jbeil claimed four additional lives, including a child and a woman. Emergency services rushed to the scene to recover bodies and assist the injured, while hospitals in the region were placed on high alert.
Lebanon’s health authorities confirmed the fatalities and said rescue operations were ongoing in affected areas. The attacks come amid continued tensions along the Lebanon–Israel border, where intermittent hostilities have persisted despite ceasefire agreements announced in recent months.
The ceasefire, initially declared in April and extended into May, has been undermined by repeated violations and continued military activity. Lebanese officials have repeatedly called for international pressure to halt the strikes and protect civilian populations in southern regions.
