Israeli media claimed that Mujtaba Khamenei has been selected as the new supreme leader of Iran after the reported death of Ali Khamenei. The report said the decision was made by the Assembly of Experts, but Iranian officials have not confirmed this claim. The news about Mujtaba Khamenei elected supreme leader is still considered unverified.

According to Israeli media, the 88-member Assembly of Experts was involved in the selection process. The report also claimed that voting or decision-making was conducted in a special meeting format. However, there is no official statement from Iranian authorities confirming the selection.

Earlier, Israeli sources said that the Assembly of Experts was holding online discussions for choosing the next supreme leader. They also mentioned that the process had entered its final stage. Iranian state media has not reported any official development regarding this matter.

Reports also mentioned that the building of the Assembly of Experts located in Qom was allegedly targeted by attacks from United States and Israel, although it was reportedly evacuated before any damage occurred.

Iranian media also stated that the burial of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will take place in Mashhad after a large mourning ceremony in Tehran. The mourning gathering will continue until Friday, and the burial date has not been officially announced. The claim that Mujtaba Khamenei elected supreme leader remains unverified.
