Karachi and Lahore ranked among the cheapest cities in the world

A recent report by data company Number for 2024 has revealed that Karachi has earned the distinction of being the world’s cheapest city. The rankings, which considered factors such as cost of living, rent, groceries, hotel prices, and local purchasing power, placed Karachi at the top, making it 81% cheaper than New York.

Following Karachi, Lahore emerged as the second cheapest city globally, with Kolkata, India, ranking just above it. Islamabad secured the fourth spot, 78.5% cheaper than New York, further highlighting Pakistan’s affordability in comparison to major international cities.

The report also placed Geneva, Switzerland, as the world’s most expensive city, with Zurich and New York following closely behind in second and third places. San Francisco ranked fourth, and Boston rounded out the top five. Iceland’s Reykjavik came in sixth, while Washington D.C. in the U.S. secured the seventh position as one of the most expensive cities in the world.
