Cold Night
Karachi experienced a particularly cold night as icy winds from Quetta swept through the city, lowering temperatures significantly. The minimum temperature dropped to 8°C, while the “feel-like” temperature was recorded at 6°C, according to the latest weather report.

The chill in the air, attributed to the icy winds, has made the weather feel colder than usual, particularly during the night. However, the cold spell is expected to ease off in the coming days, with meteorologists predicting a brief respite from the cold. A new, frosty weather spell is anticipated to hit the city starting from January 12.

The cold weather extended across most districts of Sindh, where temperatures remained low and dry throughout the night. Light to moderate fog was reported in areas like Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Khairpur, particularly in the early morning hours.

In the afternoon, the region is expected to experience gusty and strong winds, particularly in the northern and central parts of Sindh. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the chilly conditions are being caused by northeastern winds blowing at speeds of 5 to 15 kilometres per hour, which have made the temperatures feel 2 to 4 degrees colder than their actual readings.

Temperatures in other parts of Sindh were also low, with the desert town of Mithi recording a minimum of 1°C, while Mohen Jo Daro saw temperatures dip to 2°C. Weather experts have predicted that Mithi could experience temperatures as low as minus-1°C tomorrow.
