Youm-e-Istehsal
On August 5, Pakistan and Kashmiris worldwide observed Youm-e-Istehsal to protest India’s actions in occupied Kashmir in 2019. This day marks six years since the Indian government revoked Article 370, stripping the region of its special status. People across cities held rallies to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In response to a call by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, residents in Indian-occupied Kashmir marked the day as a Black Day. Posters demanding justice and freedom appeared across the region, triggering a reaction from Indian authorities. Occupation forces increased security and launched operations to suppress dissent.

Since the revocation of Article 370, life in Kashmir has grown increasingly difficult. Youth unemployment is alarmingly high, and economic conditions continue to deteriorate. The Modi government’s policies have led to growing frustration and hopelessness among the local population.

Human rights violations have surged under the BJP’s rule. Reports reveal widespread abuse, including arbitrary arrests, curfews, and censorship. As living conditions worsen, many Kashmiris are forced into silence or despair. The rising suicide rate reflects the growing mental toll of daily oppression.

According to a global survey, poverty in Kashmir has reached dangerous levels. Nearly 49% of the population now lives below the poverty line. Unemployment has also surged to over 23%, adding to the unrest. Many young people see no future under continued Indian occupation.

Protests against the Modi government’s actions continue in Kashmir. International voices are growing louder, calling for justice and self-determination. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to supporting the Kashmiri cause and condemned India’s illegal actions and human rights abuses.
