‘Ketamine Queen’ gets 15 years in Matthew Perry death case

A drug dealer known as the “Ketamine Queen,” Jasveen Sangha, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for her role in the 2023 death of Matthew Perry.
The sentencing took place in a Los Angeles federal court, where Sangha admitted to supplying the ketamine that led to the actor’s fatal overdose. The 42-year-old had pleaded guilty in September to five felony drug charges, including distributing ketamine resulting in death.
During the hearing, Sangha expressed remorse, telling the court she took full responsibility for her actions and acknowledged that her decisions had tragic consequences. US District Judge Sherilyn Garnett handed down the 15-year sentence, in line with prosecutors’ recommendation, despite the defence requesting leniency.
The court noted that Sangha continued illegal drug activities for months after Perry’s death, which weighed against her. She had operated a drug distribution network from her home in North Hollywood and supplied dozens of ketamine vials through intermediaries.
Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, was found dead in his Los Angeles home in October 2023. An autopsy confirmed he died from the acute effects of ketamine, which caused him to lose consciousness and drown in a hot tub.
Prosecutors said Sangha sold 51 vials of ketamine to a middleman, who then passed them to Perry through his personal assistant. He was injected with multiple doses on the day of his death.
The case also involved several others, including doctors and associates who have pleaded guilty to related offences. While some have already been sentenced, others are still awaiting court decisions.
Perry’s death reignited discussions around addiction, exploitation, and the misuse of prescription drugs in Hollywood.
