Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli has refused to play in the country’s major domestic tournament, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, creating a new debate in Indian cricket. Reports say that Kohli rejects Vijay Hazare Trophy because of disagreements with head coach Gautam Gambhir. This situation has surprised fans and raised questions about the growing tension within the team.

After losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia, the BCCI, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar clearly instructed centrally contracted players to participate in domestic cricket whenever they are free from international duties. The purpose was to keep players ready for the fitness and performance demands of international cricket.

According to Indian media, Virat Kohli has opposed these instructions and has refused to join the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. This decision has caused concern in the board, especially because Kohli recently scored his 52nd ODI century against South Africa yet still declined to participate in domestic matches.

Media reports state that Rohit Sharma is ready to play for Mumbai in the same tournament, but Kohli’s refusal may lead to further conflict between him and the team management. It is also reported that relations between head coach Gautam Gambhir and senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have become tense.

Indian media also claims that the dressing room environment of the ODI team is currently under pressure, with reduced trust and communication between Gambhir and the senior players. The situation reportedly became worse after the sudden retirement of Kohli and Rohit from Test cricket, and now the issue has escalated again as Kohli rejects Vijay Hazare Trophy ahead of an important domestic season.
