KP finance department warns government employees against skipping office hours

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Department has issued a strong directive to government employees, warning them against neglecting official office hours. Employees failing to adhere to the prescribed timings from 9 AM to 5 PM may face strict actions, including salary deductions, transfers, or other disciplinary measures.
The warning follows public complaints about staff absenteeism and negligence in official duties. A notification has been circulated to all provincial offices and departments, instructing employees to strictly comply with office timings and fulfil their responsibilities.
The Finance Department has emphasised that any lapse in duty will not be tolerated, reiterating its commitment to accountability and improved service delivery across government institutions.
This comes after last month’s concerns raised by the Accountant General of KP regarding salary delays. Employees were reminded that under the law, salaries can only be withheld for specific reasons such as retirement, transfer, or dismissal. Any unnecessary delay in salary disbursement is considered a violation of the rules.
By enforcing these measures, the KP government aims to enhance efficiency, ensure timely service delivery, and restore public confidence in provincial administration.
