KP launches fuel subsidy for bike owners

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a new relief initiative aimed at easing transportation costs, offering a monthly fuel subsidy to motorcycle and scooter owners across the province.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi unveiled the Rs2,000 subsidy under the Ehsaas Fuel Support Scheme, stating that the programme is designed to reduce the financial burden on citizens amid rising fuel prices. The subsidy will be provided to individuals who have motorcycles or scooters registered in their own names.
In addition to the subsidy, the provincial government has abolished all motorcycle transfer fees, further facilitating vehicle ownership and easing administrative costs for the public.
Officials said that payments will be disbursed directly through JazzCash, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the distribution process. However, only verified and registered vehicle owners will be eligible to receive the financial assistance.

To apply for the scheme, citizens must register through the “Dastak” mobile application. The process requires users to create an account, enter vehicle registration and chassis details, and upload necessary documents, including their national identity card and vehicle registration papers. Applicants must also complete biometric verification at designated centres to finalise their eligibility.
The government stated that the initiative aims to provide targeted financial relief while promoting easier and more affordable mobility for the public. By supporting daily commuters who rely on motorcycles, the scheme is expected to benefit a large segment of the population.
Authorities added that the programme reflects the province’s broader commitment to social welfare and economic support, particularly for low- and middle-income households facing increasing living costs.
