Lahore: In a groundbreaking move, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has approved and initiated a plan to make case updates accessible to citizens through a dedicated website and mobile application. The project aims to streamline the judicial process by allowing litigants to track the progress of their cases from the comfort of their homes, significantly reducing the time and effort involved in following up on court proceedings.

This initiative, which is set to begin this month, is part of LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum’s efforts to incorporate technology into the legal system to improve efficiency and accessibility. By offering online case tracking, the LHC hopes to save both time and money for citizens while simultaneously reducing the need for unnecessary physical visits to the court.

As the first high court in Pakistan to launch such a project, the LHC is setting a precedent for other courts across the country. The Additional Registrar IT, Jamal Ahmad, has been appointed to oversee the implementation and ensure the smooth functioning of the new system.

Senior Lawyer Ahsan Bhoon praised the initiative, calling it a significant step toward making the legal process more efficient. He emphasised that the new system would address frequent complaints from litigants about the need to visit the LHC in person for updates, thus facilitating a more convenient process for both litigants and lawyers alike.

Supreme Court Advocate Chaudhry Naseer Kamboh also commended LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum for her proactive approach in utilising technology to resolve public grievances and improve the welfare of lawyers. He described her as a trailblazer, particularly noting her historic role as Punjab’s first female Chief Justice.
