The Lahore High Court has ordered the freezing of bank accounts belonging to former Superintendent of Police Junaid Arshad after he allegedly failed to provide financial support for his children following divorce.

The case was heard on a petition filed by Ayesha Subhani, who informed the court that her former husband had not paid maintenance expenses for several months. She urged the court to take legal action, stating that the lack of financial support was affecting the well-being of their children.

After reviewing the arguments and available evidence, the court directed the relevant authorities to freeze the bank accounts of the former police officer. It also instructed officials to submit a detailed report regarding his financial accounts by April 20.

Legal experts note that under both statutory law and religious principles in Pakistan, fathers are obligated to financially support their children after divorce, according to their means. This responsibility typically covers essential needs such as food, clothing, housing, and education, and is enforced through family courts.

The ruling highlights the judiciary’s increasing focus on ensuring compliance with child support obligations and protecting the rights of minors. Observers say such decisions serve as a warning to individuals who neglect their financial duties after separation.

In a separate development, unrelated to the case, Cardi B recently spoke about personal challenges following her divorce. In a podcast interview, she shared how the experience led to significant changes in both her personal and professional life, describing it as a turning point.

However, the primary focus of the court’s decision remains on enforcing accountability and ensuring that children receive the financial care they are legally entitled to.
