Lt Gen. MVS Kumar Removed After Refusing Action Against Pakistan Following Pahalgam Incident.

In the wake of the Pahalgam incident, the Indian government has removed Lieutenant General MVS Kumar from his position as head of the Northern Command of the Indian Army. The decision reportedly came after he refused to initiate any aggressive action against Pakistan, a move that went against the Modi government’s expected response.

Sources suggest that the Modi administration blamed the intelligence failure in the Pahalgam attack on Lt Gen Kumar and held him responsible for the lapse. His refusal to escalate tensions with Pakistan is believed to have derailed the government’s planned course of action following the incident.

Lt Gen Prateek Sharma has now been appointed to replace him as the new head of the Northern Command.

Defence observers say this leadership change reflects internal disagreements within the Indian military and government regarding the strategy towards Pakistan amid rising regional tensions.
