Islamabad: National Cyber Emergency Response Team Issues Advisory for Pakistani Social Media Users to Change Passwords Immediately.

The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) has issued an urgent advisory urging Pakistani social media users to change their account passwords without delay.

According to the advisory, over 180 million social media users worldwide have had their passwords and sensitive information stolen in a massive global data leak. The breach has affected users of major platforms including Google, Facebook, Apple, Instagram, and Snapchat, as well as government portals.

The stolen data was obtained through Infostealer malware, raising serious concerns about account hacking, identity theft, and ransomware attacks. The advisory warns that Pakistani users are at high risk and should promptly update their passwords to protect their accounts.

Officials also expressed concern that critical government and financial institution accounts might be vulnerable due to this data breach.

Users are advised to remain vigilant, enable two-factor authentication where possible, and monitor their accounts for any suspicious activity.
