Malaysia has announced it will import $200 million worth of Halal meat from Pakistan, boosting trade ties between the two nations. The announcement came after a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Both leaders called the discussions “very productive” and pledged to strengthen cooperation across education, defense, and economic sectors.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured Malaysia of strict compliance with all Halal certification and food safety standards. He promised that Pakistan’s exporters would meet all regulatory conditions set by Malaysian authorities. Sharif said the meat export quota would be guided by market mechanisms and hoped the target would be surpassed. He described the deal as a major step in expanding bilateral trade.

During the meeting, Sharif praised Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership and commitment to economic growth. In a friendly gesture, he gifted the Urdu version of Anwar’s book, SCRIPT: For a Better Malaysia. He also appreciated Malaysia’s efforts in translating the works of Allama Iqbal into Malay. Sharif noted that Iqbal’s philosophy teaches self-reliance and national development through hard work and determination.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Pakistan’s initiative to enhance meat exports. He confirmed Malaysia’s readiness to assist Pakistan in meeting trade goals. He also highlighted the importance of peace between Pakistan and India for the region’s long-term stability. Anwar said both countries would continue to collaborate on cultural, economic, and educational fronts.

Anwar expressed gratitude for the translation of his book into Urdu and reaffirmed admiration for Allama Iqbal’s intellectual legacy. He said Iqbal’s ideas continue to inspire Malaysia’s vision of self-empowerment and development. Both leaders agreed to deepen cooperation and transform their historic friendship into a stronger economic partnership.
