ISLAMABAD: The Metro Bus service in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has been fully restored after a four-day closure due to security concerns arising from protests organised by the opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The service was temporarily suspended by the district administration to ensure the safety of commuters and prevent any potential disruptions during the protests. Additionally, some track restoration work was being carried out in the Rawalpindi section, further contributing to the suspension.

The Metro Bus service was shut down from November 28 to December 1 in Rawalpindi, from IJP to Pak Secretariat and from Saddar Station to Faizabad in Islamabad. However, after the situation returned to normal, authorities have now resumed operations, ensuring full connectivity from Saddar Station to Pak Secretariat.

Commuters in both cities can now avail themselves of the Metro Bus service without any hindrance, as authorities continue to monitor the situation to maintain public safety. The restoration of the service marks a return to normalcy in the region’s public transport system.
