Peshawar: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has withdrawn its candidate for a reserved minority seat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, paving the way for JUI-F’s Gopal Singh to be elected unopposed.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference outside the Election Commission office by Federal Minister Amir Muqam and JUI-F KP President Maulana Ata ur Rehman.
Amir Muqam stated that the decision was made after consultations with party leadership, emphasising a spirit of cooperation between opposition parties.
He added that discussions are ongoing regarding the Senate elections, with a focus on reaching consensus on all seats. However, if no agreement is reached, opposition parties will contest the elections jointly.
Following PML-N’s withdrawal, Gopal Singh was officially declared elected without contest.
